subjective and 'universally' evaluative comments like 'stunk', junk',
boring' etc as if this was the final word? Sting has commented that there is
no bad music, only bad musicians, and keeping this in mind would dispense
with a lot of the musical prejudice that almost denies disliked music (and
musicians) the right to exist. Can you imagine the reaction from such people
(I hesitate to use the word 'musicians', as a musician should be open to new
ideas, different angles) if someone were to criticise their cherished
favourites in the same way? >>

Alan you are right in the fact that my criticism of some selections I
personally do not like was worded too harshly. After rereading my post, I
realize that my choice of words was not good. I probably should have said
that in my opinion those selections are at the bottom of my preferred list.
Those same pieces could be at the top of someone elses list and my personal
favorite pieces could be at the bottom of someone elses. Some people like
spinach and some don't, tastes are different. Those pieces are still some of
my least favorite. Thanks for pointing out my poor way of expressing my
opinion. I am usually more tactful than that. Guess I was having a bad day
(not that that is an excuse for lack of tact). There have been, however,
some pretty scathing remarks about a conductor or two. (also not an excuse).
