There are two versions by (Sabine) Meyer - one recorded in 1990 with
Staatskapelle Dresden under Hans Vonk, the other with Berlin Phil & Claudio
Abbado in 1999.
(EMI 7243 5 6689 2 5 and 7243 5 56832 2 9 respectively.
She uses a (modern) basset clarinet on both.
Both are terrific I think, but the coupling on the 1999 version is more
interesting - Fantasma/Cantos by Toru Takemitsu.

I agree with this too - but at the time it was probably refreshingly normal
after Reginald Kell's 1942 version which I first heard only about year ago
when I found it really alarming.
I wonder why Kell was so highly regarded in his time.
