Why on earth would anyone want to mike the bagpipes? Chances are, the pipes
used were "war" pipes, the kind most seen in parades, etc. These are already
load as they are disigned to be heard over the din of a large battle ground.
I can see maybe miking the "parlour" pipes as these are quieter for indoor
performance. These sound better and have more tone ports and keys for better
intonation. Not good, but better. They still sound like a tortured cat
except in the hands of a few professionals.
