At the SFA High School Band Camp, we learned that. Our low clarinet
master class teacher called them alternate fingerings. Like when you overblow
open G you get an altissimo D. Those help you a lot when going above high C.
You can also play 12ths or overtones. That's when, for example, you play low
A, add the register key, and then take off the top finger. It's really neat
to think that when beginners "squeak" while playing open G there are actually
playing altissimo D.
