You may not appreciate my reply colleague, but for goodness sake take him
out of band and get some private
individual tuition for him. As someone else suggested, you cannot fix
multiple faults in a band session. In six to 9 months time you will be able
to take
him back into band. He will enjoy it more, and so will you.
Having said that, I fully admit to not knowing the U.S. systems of musical
education. We in the U.K. would not admit any youngster into band before
12 -18 months individual or small group lessons had elapsed.
