I have the same problem doubling on bassoon! The low F and Ab are the
opposite of the clarinet-the F being on top and Ab on the bottom. I'm just
thankful that we don't have to read in different clefs! (Although when I
read a piece in C, I change the key signature and read it in alto clef!)

Subject: [kl] Proposal for oboe fingering

What is driving me crazy about the oboe is the *%^&* bleeping Right hand
1st finger F# and 1&1 C fingerings. Even the low C, C#, Eb key placement
isn't as confusing.

Keyboard players don't have to put up with some instruments having the
F/F# and the Bb/C being swtiched on some instruments.

Most other notes are consistent with patterns of other woodwind
fingerings.

A special 'doublers' oboe key system would be nice.

& :-) That would only annoy oboe players.

who has been quite lucky so far with oboe reeds...
