David N wrote w/ tongue in cheek:

<<<I believe that the concept of piccolo and Eb in unison is impossible
according to the laws of orchestral physics. ;-)>>>

. . . and Sean Osborne replied:

<<<I dissagree, but then maybe I've been fortunate to work with some
excellent flute/piccolo sections. Usually one is in octaves with the piccolo
and unison with the flute simultaneously.>>>

I play a lot of Eb, to the chagrin of many. While the picc player in my
orchestra certainly isn't of the caliber of the Met pit (who is?), I am
*certain* that we get along better.

. . . I am, after all, married to her.

My advice to eepher players is pretty simple. Sit down with the piccolo
player and a tuner. The tuner will quickly tell you that neither of you
plays better in tune -- you both have to adjust. Mark little arrows in your
music, and listen. Keep an open mind.

. . . and remember to buy flowers, 'cuz you're always the one that's wrong.
