....well, of course we couldn't stop him even if we wanted to. At
the risk of being condemned for saying so, I agree that if it sounds
good (in his opinion) with only strings, then there's no reason not to
play it as a 'new approach to a classic'. If there were copyright
issues at stake, it would be a different situation, of course.
My previous message was about changing a particular note even
though I _can_ play it. But if the instruments aren't available and if
he likes the result with strings only and if it's not copyrighted, then
the only reason that I can see not to play it with whatever resources
that are available is peer pressure. If some of your peers are in
favor, then go for it, I say.
