In the Lower East Side of Manhattan there's a small jazz club run by John
Zorn called Tonic that has klezmer bands on Sunday afternoon. I went today
because the featured performer was David Krakauer & Klezmer Madness. It was
an intense, high-energy performance. The music was great, the band was great
(I'd never before thought that the phrase "the accordianist is hot!" would
ever cross my mind), and Krakauer was incredible. It was actually
inspirational, a vivid reminder of why I started trying to play in the first
place, because music like that was possible.
