This is in response to the question about mouthpieces for the Eb clarinet:
I tried the Selmer HS*, and it was horrible. I couldn't play a note on it...the
student-model Yamaha mouthpiece I had was much better. The best mouthpiece that
I have ever played on is my current Bb mouthpiece...it's a Morgan. When I got
it two years ago (I'm a high school student), my playing improved dramatically.
I've been kind of spoiled by it now; I have trouble playing on anything else.
But I have no need to; as a personal challenge of sorts, I've been actively
searching for a mouthpiece that can play better than this one. No such luck.
Selmer, Buffet, Vandoren, Woodwind, Yamaha...Morgan leaves them all in the dust.
So when I went to get an Eb mouthpiece, I tried both the Morgan and the Selmer...no
contest. I got the last one in stock; apparently Morgan mouthpieces are very
hard to get. I guess I just got really lucky by managing to get my hands on
two of them. If any of you are searching for the perfect mouthpiece, I urge
you to try a Morgan. Does anyone else here have experience with Morgan that
they could relate?
