Has anybody here ever heard of Zonda reeds? They're made by some company in Argentina.
At the urging of a couple of my sax-playing friends, I ordered a box of the
"Classico" cut variety. They seem to be fairly good, although they run a bit
harder than Vandorens. They're not quite as shrill as Vandorens in the upper
register, but they are kind of fuzzy in the lower register. I think they could
be quite good after a few sessions of soaking and reed rush. Anyway, I was wondering
if anybody else here has ever tried these and could relate their experiences
with them. Also, I ordered a Legere reed, and the tone isn't bad, but I don't
like the feel of it. It just feels...mushy. I think I'll send it back and exchange
it for a 3.5 (I got a 3). They are much better than any other synthetic reed
I've ever tried, but in my opinion they still can't measure up to good old cane.
Anyway, that's my completely unsolicited opinion.
