Subj: [kl] The comments on W&B
Date: Fri, 16 Jun 2000 20:40:49 -0400

It appears to me that I touched on a sore point with a great many people
when I made my comments about the unpleasant experience I had with w&b.
I do not doubt for one moment that this dialogue is being reported to
them. In fact, if they don't know about it, they may be more out of
touch with reality than I thought.

But businesses have a way of developing a level of arrogance that cannot
be penetrated. They don't see themselves as arrogant, they just don't
listen when this kind of criticism is offered. Instead they perceive
such remarks as the rantings of dissatisfied grouches.

On Wall Street it is called "The Darling Syndrome." That is, whenever a
company begins to thing that it is "the darling of Wall Street" and that
its products and business services are immortal, one would be wise to
sell their stock at once.

It just sounds to me that W&B has developed an arrogance that cannot be
penetrated with reason. They won't be the first company to hurt should
that continue without modification.
