I have a former Student in Washingon DC who is looking for a very good Jazz
Sax teacher. My instinct is to tell him to contact the Service DC Jazz
bands and go from there (Air Force, Navy, etc) as their players are pretty
great in the Jazz combos. Any other ideas? He complained that the sax
teacher at American wasn't even his level, so he wants someone who can
really teach, and play well for Jazz. He is performing July 4th on the
ellipse on the main mall in DC.

One of the best jazz sax teachers in the area is actually in Richmond--it's
Skip Gailes. He's a freelancer in Richmond and teaches in the Virginia
Commonwealth University jazz program.
Another good option would be to call Lee Lachman in College Park.
