There was a time when Selmer made only one Eb instrument larger than a bass
clarinet. They called it a "Contra Bass." Leblanc was offering both an Eb
instrument, which they called a "Contra Alto" and a larger BBb instrument,
which they rightfully called a "Contra Bass." This was a little nit picky
war they had going on. Eb contra bass and Eb contra alto are the same voice.
