I've never had to think about ornaments and grace notes before. My
music dictionary doesn't help me out on this one.
When the piece begins with a note that is printed 'half size' with
a single flag and a slanted line through the stem and a slur to the
first notes that are printed 'full size' in the piece (beamed eighth
notes), what are you supposed to do with the half size note, and what is
the correct name for it? Does the half size note start on the beat, or
before it?

Thanks,
Bill
