I've found as my musical horizons have widened that I've actually start
enjoying Schoenberg on occasion, even if not really understanding the music.
Listening to Pierrot lunaire while reading the words (translations, since I
don't understand German - unfortunately) makes it much more interesting than
just listening. I've got the edition with Yvonne Minton, Daniel Barenboim,
Michel Debost, Antony Pay, Pinchas Zuckerman, and Lynn Harrell. I have no
idea how this stacks up to other recordings since the piece isn't played
very often, but it really grew on me.
