Not cheating, just practicing an extra few minutes each day.
<grin> My habit is to take a break every few minutes and read/type
here, then back to music.

<><> here I am giving advice from across the Atlantic, and who
knows how many more miles, to a gentleman who
I do not know how long has been learning.

(actually, I am seriously considering a holiday in the U.K. -- not
for the sake of music, just for the sake of having a holiday. My
parents took me there when I was in grade school, and my daughter was an
exchange student in London, and I'm thinking that it's my turn again --
budget and circumstances allowing)
I'm entering my sixties. My daughter asked to play clarinet a year
ago, maybe a few months less; but it didn't work out for her. The
unused clarinet was just sitting there (three month rental contract), so
I decided to try it. I've desperately wanted to play music all my life,
and I've tried twice before (piano and guitar) and failed. But the
clarinet seems to have something that works for me, albeit I am a very
slow learner.

<><> It would be interesting to discover what Bill`s tutor thinks
of him, after searching world-wide for answers, (without the tutor`s
knowledge?)

I suspect that she's listening. She confesses that she does on
occasion. If she is.... well, you couldn't meet a nicer person or a
better instructor. It's just blind luck that I ended up in her studio.

<><> or do you pretend at first that you are totally ignorant?

It's not a pretense, Tony. <rueful grin>

Cheers,
Bill
