The most valuable <bit of a tip> is to not worry at all with these

Yes, I am even playing Bb on-the-staff the easy way -- except in
those rare moments when I feel like 'going for it'. I asked about the
G# because it appears in a phrase (in the piece that I'm supposed to
play for my first student recital) whose intervals are: major 2nd, major
2nd (to the tonic), minor 2nd, minor 2nd, minor 2nd. Fortunately the
next interval is a major 3rd, and I suppose that this is an example of
'resolving the tension'; but it sounds so horrible to me that I decided
to look in the fingering book for some help.

Also [this note] is more sensitive to good breath support than other
notes so do not let the support sag

This is my primary excuse for renting a bass clarinet a couple of
days ago. [Wife to husband: "What is **THAT?"] I am a 'sagger'. You
need lots more breath to do anything with the bass, and I'm hoping that
the extra calisthenics will do something for my breath support.
I don't know yet whether I'll get confused trying to 'remember' two
embouchures. Time will tell. Besides which.... the monster is sort of
fun, even if it does make my brain rattle.

Thanks and Cheers,
Bill
