I've never heard of Pat Metheny. I have heard of Kenny G.

Pity me, whenever I received CD gifts from people they were all Kenny G. I
have about 9. My name is Georgette, they used to call me "G" for short. :)

I intentionally purchased only one: Classics In the Key of G and that was
because of "Wonderful World". I love that song! I listen to it to hear
Louie Armstrong, but Kenny G just adds to it. He does not take away from
Louie at all.

I think the reason Kenny G is so popular because no one else is like him.
His music can't really get classified with the likes of Joshua Redman or
Richard Elliot; one type of music. It can't really go next to Kirk Whalem,
Dexter Gordon, Coleman Hawkins, Ben Webster, Cannonball Adderly, John
Coltrane or other players like that. Can someone think of at least one
player everyone has heard of that can get classified with Kenny G? Najee? No

Face it. He's different and that is what makes him so popular. I'm sure
that he just loves playing music and he has found his niche in the music
world. I say good for him.

I'm sure that "Pat" person will just get more acclaim for being a critic than
a musician. In the interview, he or she dissed some others for doing the dub
over the dead people and the Polish people. Obviously "Pat is finding his or
her niche in being critical.

In this crazy world, sad but true, negativity gets more of a reaction. So,
so, sad.

Sorry, had to vent.
