I have no desire to see artists stop recording;but how many Beethoven
Fifths or Mozart Clarinet Concertos (1 work - many recordings, not many
works) do we need on the market at one time. The recording companies go
with proven works till we are sick of them but the remaining 2/3 of the
ouvre are ignored.

Allen, it is precisely that which makes MP3.com so special. You can record
your latest Sonata, and post it, sell CD,'s and get Fans with Worldwide
Distribution - easily.
The Williams Concerto would have never have been offered on CD if not for
MP3.com
That's the reality of the current state of Music in regards to recordings -
unless it is a major work with Corporate backing, it usually will not get
recorded to CD. Now a composer can have the freedom from the Record Labels.
