It's important for all clarinet teachers to teach beginners all the
maintenance they need right off. I have a beginner student, about 12 years
old, that had been a student of my friend's before me. She had been really
careful to teach him everything he needed to know. I was really surprised
and impressed our first lesson- if only more teachers tought this right off!
Consequently, me and my friend had the same teacher ourselves, who was
also very meticulous in teaching us about maintenance when we began.
