I remember in 6th grade beginner band (it's not that hard to remember,
since it was only 3 years ago), our band director told us a story about this
student who left their reed on the mouthpiece and he had to pry it off with a
knife and underneath it was mold and maggots. That story was so sick to me
that I will never leave my reed on the mouthpiece. Some students still do,
but I don't want to see what's growing in their mouthpiece.
