Are you thinking that he actually heard the piece played up the octave
on a bass clarinet in A?

I don't think this would be possible. Or, if it were possible, it
wouldn't be workable....

Or if it were workable, it wouldn't be interesting....

Or if it were interesting, it would be interesting for the wrong
reasons....

But I think he said that it wasn't.
