Before I converted to Legere reeds I actually intentionaly grew mold on my
reeds! I once accidently had mold growing on my new reeds. Rather than
throw them out I tried playing them. They were terrific reeds... literally
the best I had ever played in over forty years of playing. They played
great and lasted and lasted! After that I grew mold on all my new reeds for
several years. I honestly think the mold had a positive effect. However, it
was sometimes hard to get it to grow. Naturally, everyone thought I was
nuts. Perhaps, I was.
