We get mold on our reeds here in the Houston area if we are not careful. It
will get on the back of the reed. The most common causes are leaving the
reed on the mouthpiece when the instrument is put in the case (students are
bad about this) and not drying your reeds before you put them away. Of
course around here if you stand in a shady place too long you will get algae,
mold, and moss growing on your leg. It doesn't last too long however because
the polution from the chemical plants will take it off on your drive home if
you live on the east side. Come on down, y'all will love it here!
