If you son is very good and they do indeed want him that badly, this may be
the golden opportunity to negotiate a some type of suitable working
arrangement so that students can do both. Afterall you are now the kid's
PARENT not just the band director. As such you could prevent him from being
in football. This is leverage that you don't have with any other band
student.

*Plan* a strategy don't just go blowing up at the coach. Don't waste such a
wonderful opportunity through letting emotions run wild.
