Another possibility is rewriting new pieces you want to introduce so as to
eliminate those lower notes. You can also introduce clarion register at d
and above and go back to the register break notes later (please, no flames -
I realize this is a questionable thing to do; OTOH, this is an unusual
situation, and I would hope that the opportunity is also being taken to
teach this child proper breathing habits).
I am introducing the Eb clarinet to one of my five year old twins, as
something of an experiment, so I will be watching this thread with interest.
We cannot afford a Lyons, so we will see how this works out.
