Orchestra players!

Recently we had an audition for 2nd/Bass-cl. position. Since we wanted =
the best clarinet player as well as the best bass-clarinet player we =
were discussing how to arrange the audition to get the best out of =
everyone.

First, everybody played selected parts of the Mozart concerto, then =
switched to bass for a few orchestra excerpts. In the second round, the =
people who were still there played the Weber Concertino on bass, =
introduction and variation three to the end. More excerpts on bass and a =
big pile of excerpts on regular clarinet. Everybody could feel free to =
play the instruments as well as the excerpts in which order they =
preferred.=20
The point is to give everybody a fair chance to show their best in =
respect for peoples different embouchure and nerves and this is what we =
came up with. I'm just curious to hear how others did the last time you =
had a similar position to be filled.
