Subj: [kl] Re Lelia's comments about finding old things

Lelia, correctly takes me to task about finding things in old suitcases
by pointing out how she, herself, has found stuff. True.

But consider the size of the manuscripts involved. The concerto, being
for full orchestra, would require one surface for about 8-10 measures,
the average number that Mozart puts on a page. Let's consider that the
concerto is about 500 measures long. That's 50 surfaces or 25 leaves.

Now consider the quintet which would have been written with two systems
of 5 staves each on 12 stave paper. Here consider 20 measures per page
or twice as many as the concerto form. The quintet has 4 movements and
the minuet has two trios. It's a lot of music. Say about 600
measures. I didn't count them though my scores are in the next room.
That's another 30 surfaces or 15 leaves.

The total is 40 leaves of paper. That's about 3/4 inch thick. Hard to
not see it Lelia. I admit that a few pages might be included, but 40
leaves?
Possible I suppose, but not very probable.
