From: Kenneth Wolman <kwolman@-----.com> Subj: [kl] Fair price in NYC for bass clarinet repadding? Date: Wed, 31 May 2000 14:56:21 -0400
I've mentioned the old Selmer/Bundy bass clarinet I own that I bought used
about 17 months ago. I'm not necessarily interested in a total overhaul of
a horn that didn't cost that much to start with, but it DOES have a
desperate need for pads. One of the pads is being held in with folded-over
duct tape, and the other IS duct tape folded up on itself and held into the
key setting with pad cement. It plays but it's a nasty arrangement.
New York area players: How much should I reasonably expect to pay for a
repadding job? Who might you recommend. If I have to weigh price against
an efficient job, I WILL lean in the direction of efficient work, but I'd
like some idea of what is a reasonable price for what I'm requesting.
