There are a couple of solutions I know of; however, none are free:
1) Use a smaller clarinet. The Lyons C clarinet is especially made for younger students and is well nigh impossible to break I hear. I also hear that it sounds pretty good.
2) Find a clarinet with plateau keys. New ones are available, but expensive. Used ones are rare.
