Subj: Re: [kl] How do your pads sound?

Well, after my repair guy put some Teflon over one of pads, I have begun to
notice that there is a considerable difference in sound with different pads.
The Teflon, while still sealing the joint and preventing any leaks from
occurring, made my R-13 much more resistant and almost impossible to play in
the altissimo register. After trying different pads and getting a variety of
responses I am trying to figure out why the clarinet responds as it does. So
here is my question; assuming that the upper/lower joint seals, has suction,
etc., why would the same clarinet respond differently to different pads.
Basically how does a pad affect the entire setup. Much appreciation for your
responses in advance.
