You go too far here!! There is such a thing as revenge, you know.

<smile> Dan, you may have your opportunity. Today I had a
conversation with a recording studio. The verdict isn't in yet, but I
may show up at ClarinetFest with a CD of various synthesized clarinet
tones ('synthesized' means that the tones can be reproduced precisely in
follow-up experiments) _and_ with a printout of the waveforms that
produced the tones.
This means that, after a test subject choses an adjective or a
ranking to describe a particular tone, I may be able to show the subject
exactly why he or she made the choice.
As part of this (hopeful) experiment, I will also.... well,
perhaps in order not to bias the experiment, I shouldn't say any more
just now.

But seriously, if anybody has comments about how these tones (no
music, just single long tones) should be presented to the test subjects,
or exactly what questions should be asked about these tones, or any
other aspect of the experiment's design, please feel free to make them.

Cheers,
Bill (who nervously looks back over his shoulder)
