I can't defend them. I've found them to look after a minority of musicians well, and the rest of us
in name only. *But* I agree that we're our own worst enemies as most times I have worked with other
musicians (who also have day-jobs) the money on offer is less than MU rate. What do we do? Do we
turn down the work, knowing that someone else will do it for what's on offer, or do we decide that
the money's as well in our pockets than someone else's? We tend to take the money! I work as a
computer programmer 9-5, and do some work (mostly piano/keyboard) outside of office hours. I don't
make much money from music, so my MU subs are at the lowest level. It's worth staying with them for
me for the insurances which are included.

Yep - wasn't difficult. Although I consider clarinet to be my first instrument, my musical income
comes mostly from piano/keyboards and so I'm the Piano player in the MU book. (clarinet is listed as
second instrument).

Edinburgh sends its regards (as does the Ross bandstand). Weather here is nice which probably means
it'll be chucking it down in August for the Festival. Ha Ha (I'll be at work!)
