Klarinet Archive - Posting 001245.txt from 2000/05

I am not sure that we are communicating. There are two clarinet
quintets of Mozart. One is the A major, K. 581, the supreme example in
the repertoire. The fourth movement of this quintet indeed does deserve
and has gotten my attention.
The other quintet is a single movement incomplete work that was
completed by Levin and I also know it well.
But the question I was asking about K. 581 is not answered by any
examination of the B-flat clarinet quintet which was the subject of my
paragraph to which you have taken exception.
Now can you please explain why the B-flat quintet should be of interest
to me with respect to the question I asked about the use of a basset
clarinet for K. 581. I'm not being sarcastic. I just do not understand
what you have said.
