Hi,

Sometimes there is a bit of material built up from the swab plugging the
octave key hole, especially if there is a metal vent. It produces just the
effect you describe. I have to clean mine out every six months or so, and I
use a silk swab.
Remove the octave key and run a pipe cleaner through the octave hole until
its clear. It that's the problem it should fix it.
