Subject: High Reg. Tonguing in Holst/Jupiter
Message-ID: <ce.5bef9ea.265c040c@-----.com>

Quick plea for help from the list!
While on the topic of high register, I need help
with the high register fast tonguing in the Holst/Jupiter,
YEOW! The mid range section is going OK at 152, but
the 16th's in the third register are eating me up!
Suggestions for practice would be much appreciated.
Gracias!

Lori,

Ouch! If YOU have problems with tonguing then there isn't much hope ...

If it isn't too presumptuous to advise my teacher <g>, it might be time t=
o
work on two possibilities. Double tonguing, t-k-t-k but trying to phrase =
it
so that the less stable "k" part does not come on the first note in the
third register .. running it over from memory I think this works. Or
flipping the tongue forwards and backwards over the reed - you might
remember discusiing this at Santa Fe workshop last year (except when i di=
d
it it came out more like Morse code!), which in effect doubles the speed.=

I'm eagerly waiting other people's advice!

Keith Bowen
