I had a similar experince in my undergrad years. I had a reed that I made
that seemed to last for about 3 months. It was the only reed I played for
that time, and it always felt great! Even clipped it once and softened it
up, but it kept on going. Then, one day, I tried some other reeds, and I
couldn't believe how good THEY felt! It seems that all that time I had just
gotten used to that particular reed. Oh well...
