Bill, you used "perception" in both definitions, which is ambiguous itself
since we may "perceive" the same things differently. "Less or more energy"?
"Comes at you from a pinpoint ... pierces you"? That's (to me) absolutely
meaningless. To you - meaningful.

My ideas of "dark" and "light" are constantly changing as I hear and
experience more music. In a year or so you may have a completely different
opinion of what constitutes those terms. As it is I still see no common
ground. I might agree with your definitions - but when we got together we
will probably find that I have different interpretations of what you said!

What has attracted me to clarinet vice other instruments are the ability to
control and shape any particular note in at least two dimensions - dynamic
and color (and tone color itself has more than one dimension) - and then
use that control and shape in relation to the notes before and after it.
Much more akin to what a good singer can do. Your "dark" and "light" are
much to broad for me.
