Subj: [kl] Gender survey -- RR station pigeons

George, I'm sure that you'll receive a number of 'thank you'
messages for doing the work. Here's mine:

Thank you
<smile>

The results were quite interesting. I am an 'older' folk, and I was
surprised at the results. I went to a recital tonight at the local
university, and every single clarinet player (including bass clarinet)
was female. Thank goodness nothing prompted me to think about gender
when I started playing nine months ago!

On a slightly different subject, tonight's recital included an
original composition that 'described' a flock of pigeons sitting on top
of a railway station and looking down at the crowded morning commuters
below.
In the program notes, the composer declared: "Did you know that
pigeons sing unpleasantly in the morning? In my perception, their
singing is dark."
This piece was for A clarinet, bass clarinet and flute. You can be
sure that I listened very carefully to hear if the two clarinets had
dark tones. <Bill displays his best Chesire cat grin>

Cheers
