I am unable to hear any significant difference in note of the upper
joint when I listen TO OTHERS playing a clarinet with a traditional
lower joint as contrasted with the same player using a basset joint. I
have never played an instrument under such circumstances so I cannot say
if I could detect a different were I the player.
