Someone on eBay is listing a Pruefer "silver throat" made in
Rhode Island, but states that they think this was made
Buffet and "stenciled" with the Pruefer name. Being a busy
body, I wrote to ask. The seller says that that the Pruefer
is a plastic instrument that, when placed side by side,
looks exactly like a B12. He thinks the instrument is only
about 25 years old.

Well, most boehm clarinets look the same to me. According
to Lar's serial number list, G Pruefer went out of business
in 1955. Plenty of plastic Pruefers have been listed on
eBay.

Is is possible that when Pruefer went out of business, their
equipment for producing plastic clarinets went to Buffet?
Might there be any other Connection?
