I also felt, the last time I played it -- though you could disagree with
this -- that it was worth anticipating the G" at the beginning of bar
284 by one quaver. It seemed logical, and works. I don't find I can
gain anything by making the violin/clarinet difference evident.

I can't remember now whether there was any other reason why I decided
that it was OK to do this. Is it perhaps on Goodman's recording?

I wrote elsewhere on the list about the psychological effect of the
change of phrase notation at the beginning of the piece between the
score and the cl/pf reduction. But most people -- including, perhaps,
the composer -- aren't interested in that sort of thing, I find.
