They are made for people so flamboyant that regular gold and silver-colored
instruments are not good enough. The companies, notably L. A. Sax, simply
use colored, instead of clear, lacquer. You ought to see their "swirl"
finish multi-colored instruments! While these horns would look GREAT in a
show band, most school band directors would have a conniption if one of
their kids showed up with one. Which, of course, only proves that they are
prejudiced, judging on appearance alone without bothering to investigate
any other qualities.
