As i think further, more than 2 systems, but all these still are by
"numbers" and "not".

from Band teachers
Style of *number* counting: aka Eastman
16ths 1 ta te ta
8ths 1 te
triplets 1 la le

( supposed to be good for tonguing carry over...)

from Piano teacher Numbers but different syllables
16ths 1 e & a
8ths 1 &
triplets 1-trip-let or trip-a-let

NO numbers

from jazz
dubadubadubaduBah BAT Baaaaah
13&a 2e&a3 & & &_______ (translation to number)

Kodaly(?) characterized by No Numbers,
16ths ??? papapapa
8ths ti (like tea)
4ter Ta (rhymes raw)

what i actually use when listening my own syllables
16th dedildedil or digadiga
triplets did-ah-li

some elementary string teachers use *bow words*
" slowBow" for half,
"long" for quarter,
"short" for 8ths
(at this level, didn't get into 16ths)

The student who a week ago was befuzzled by switching from her own
ACCURATE counting to Numbers by the meter is picking up the number
systems quickly.
One competent teacher in my past would deliver on stone tablet "If you
can't count by numbers, you can't accurately count". Not always true.

So, once again, both kinds of systems are good and have strengths, those
who can do any variety are most completely trained and capable.
