Subj: [kl] Glotin clarinet reeds...

Well, after singing praises of the Glotin GIII bass reeds for the past two
semesters, I finally got my hands on the GIII soprano reeds this
afternoon. I haven't had a chance to play them, but I was surprised to
find that the box I opened (I got four boxes off of Ebay) was nearly all
thick blanks...this baffled me, because in catalogues, GIII seems to be
their standard reed, with the Gaia's be the more expensive variety, and
Gaia is only available for soprano (hence my prior belief that Gaias were
TBs and GIII's standard cut). But what I see in this box of GIII's tells
me that I have four boxes of TBs...

I would rather not open the other three boxes until I know what they are;
if they AREN'T TBs, I'll probably end up selling them, and sealed boxes
are more attractive to the casual buyer, no?

Also - I find with the bass reeds that the Glotins run around .25 to .5
harder than Vandies. Is this true for the smaller reeds as well? (If so,
then even better, since I currently play V12 4.5s, and all four boxes of
the GIII's are 4's.)

Thanks in advance!
