Tomorrow around noon MDT, I'll drop a couple of items onto Ebay for
auction.

The first item is a bass clarinet mpc - a Vandoren A3. I've heard that
Vandie no longer makes crystal bass mpcs, so perhaps this is a rarity now.
I dunno. I'm hoping to get a decent amount for the piece to put against a
Morgan D...or maybe a Garrett or a Fobes, once I get around to trying
their newest models. It's in fine condition, with new cork and a nick in
the facing right where the facing runs into the cork. As far as I can
tell, this nick doesn't affect the playability of the mpc, as most of my
reeds don't reach that far down on the facing. Plays nice with a Vandie
2.5.

A Woodwind/Brasswind catalogue from two years back lists it at 165.95,
312.65 retail (my-o-my!). I figure I'll start the auction at, oh...I
guess $70. No cap, no lig, go fig - so sorry.

The other is a tenor sax mpc that I haven't ever seen in catalogues, but
I've seen them on Ebay frequently - it's a silver Brilhart 4*, possibly a
levelaire before the implementation of the moving baffle (eh, I dunno).
Doesn't look like anything I've seen in a catalogue, but the back of the
mpc is inscribed "Designed by Arnold Brilhart." Serial no. 110XXX. Plays
nice with a Vandie V16, 2 or a 2.5. I use my Otto all the time now, so I
don't need this one. Comes with lig and cap, and teeth marks that were
there when purchased. I used a patch to avoid worsening them.

I don't know too much about this mpc, so my naivete could work either
against me (most likely) or for me ("I'll give you $200 for it!" - not
bloody likely) on this one. *shrug*

Same catalogue from two years back lists metal Brils at 91.95, 164.00
retail. Recent catalogue from Muncy's doesn't have metal Brils - as
usual, I dunno. I figure I'll set low bid at $50 on it.

Both mouthpieces can be seen at the website in my sig, just add these to
the end:

If ANYONE on the list wants to offer me better than the minimum bids
BEFORE I set the auction tomorrow, I will sell to YOU first, because you
people are groovy, and I like you. Except for Bill Hausmann.

Just kidding, Bill. ^_^ (I pulled a random name out of midair.)

Both of these mpcs were purchased by me off of Ebay quite some time ago;
the Vandie to become my pro piece, but now I want a Morgan, and the Bril
to shut my jazz band instructor up ("Nohe, I need more volume!"). The
A3 plays much like a Hite piece, but with a bit more resistance (longer
facing, I think), and the Bril plays much like an Otto 5 (I play a 6) with
some more edge and projection. I imagine it can be dampened a bit (if you
like) with a Rovner, but I can't say for sure, since I never tried.

Even if you don't email me before the auction, I will extend a nice
privilege to Klarinet, Bass Clarinet List, and Contrabass.com members -
I'll pay shipping! So if you decide to go through Ebay, when the
auction's over, tell me that you belong to the list and I'll pick up
postal tabs...er, if you're overseas, there might be an exception. We'll
see.

Also, if anyone can tell me more about that Bril, I'd appreciate it. If
no one picks it up here, when I auction it, I'd like to be able to be
completely accurate of it's origin in my description. Thanks!
