Chris,

Oh, you're probably in Columbia, no? I would work on the jazz stuff =
100-120mm, then push them up to whatever you can handle, c. 140-160mm. The
Shaw Method is not exactly modern jazz, but it's a good intro to the big
band style of clarinet playing. Shaw was mostly self taught, but in many
ways I believe he was a better all around jazz player than, say, Benny
Goodman (I'll probably get flamed for saying this!).
