I've been using Luyben ligatures most of the time for
25 years, after Rosario Mazzeo suggested them at a lesson.
I too have wished that Luyben would produce that
style of ligature for other reed instruments,
especially the Eb clarinet.

At the company's web page, there's the news that
they've produced a fresh set of molds for the
ligatures (as of 1996), and are offering the
Bb clarinet ligatures and caps in several additional
colors (red, blue, green, yellow, white, gold, silver):

While the color-coordination feature isn't that
exciting to me, at least this is a sign that
somebody is taking a fresh look at this product.
Perhaps now that somebody has designed fresh molds
they'll also extend the design to other sizes of
ligature.
