Emily,
This seems like an over-reaction. "Push and pull on the face bones"
sounds like tooo much pressure. More people run into barriers with time
and concentration.

Kevin's comment "face, clarinet embouchure" and face "trombone
embouchure" make sense as a description.

Are you asking because you are specifically interested, or see someone in
difficulty?

The only times i have hurt myself phycially with instrument practice :
obsessive practice (repitive strains muscles and tendons in arms) and
suddenly playing much longer time without preparation (sore lip).
